ER Practitioner, Support Office at Pick n Pay Namibia

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To manage sound employee commitment, capability and discipline through the regulation of employee/employer relationships.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop, drive, and implement best practices for a sound Employee Relations (ER) environment.
  • Recommend changes to the Group ER Policy, Procedure, and forms.
  • Recommend, advise, and facilitate appropriate labour-related strategies for re-engineering.
  • Facilitate counselling processes, record, and maintain records for filing.
  • Act as the liaison officer between management, stakeholders, and social partners, e.g., Trade Unions, Employers Federation, and the Government.
  • Facilitate AA and ER training, including the role of hearing chairpersons, initiators, Employment Equity compliance, and relevant policies & procedures.
  • Handle labour matters, including preparation of Con-Arb correspondence and documentation, and application for interdicts or court orders.
  • Assist and advise in wage negotiations.
  • Review and ensure the effectiveness of monthly controls managed by PIM and assist with implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct investigations in consultation with Line Managers and/or ensure that investigations by Line Managers are properly done.
  • Ensure timely conclusions of ER incidents by executing all actions in compliance with the ER Policy & Procedure.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Identify and advise on the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Ensure that disciplinary cases meet the criteria for a disciplinary hearing.
  • Ensure that notices are issued to the alleged offenders within the prescribed period.
  • Ensure that appointments of the chairperson and appeal chairperson for disciplinary hearings are done on time and in accordance with the Group ER policy and procedure.
  • Ensure the date, time, and venue for disciplinary hearings are set in terms of policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Degree in Industrial Psychology/ Industrial Relations/ Labour Law
  • 3-5 years’ Experience, in a ER/IR environment
  • Postgraduate or Master’s Degree, specializing in Industrial Relations.
