Vacancies exist for Blasters in the Mining department. The incumbents will be responsible for the safely and effectively execution of blasting operations with the guidance from the Blasting Frontline supervisors as per the blasting regulations.
Key performance areas
- Maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Providing on-the-job coaching and mentoring to trainee Blasters for job sharing.
- Preparing blasting patterns by demarcating them off and exclusion zones according to standard procedures to prevent unauthorized entry.
- Destroying explosives using prescribed standard procedure and burning the empty Blasting Cartons/ Boxes in the allocated area.
- Ensuring operating conditions that minimise consumables cost wherever possible.
- Identifying and implementing business process improvements within the area of responsibility.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 with a minimum E in English with a Permanent Government Blasting Certificate, with two (2) years ‘post blasting experience in an Open Pit environment.
- Valid Code B driver’s license.
- A Police Certificate of conduct of not older than six months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates.
