Geological Technician (Exploration) – Rossing Uranium
Job Purpose:
A vacancy exists for a Geological Technician reporting to the Exploration Geologist within the LOME projects & Studies – Business Development Department. The successful incumbent will collect accurate geological and geotechnical data in the exploration areas for Geologists which will be used to establish from the series of tests and data analysis, the feasibility of developing orebodies.
Key performance areas
- Maintain Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) compliance
- Manage core yard activities, including cataloguing, storage, and historical core handling and archiving
- Collect, capture and report geological and geotechnical data
- Perform DD core and RC chip logging
- Conduct sampling (DD & RC), including QA/QC and sample tracking
- Perform core photography and manage image records
- Maintain geological databases and reporting outputs
- Support fieldwork (mapping, sampling, geotechnical and geophysical tasks)
- Assist with drillhole staking, site preparation, and contractor coordination
- Monitor groundwater levels and report anomalies
- Manage core yard activities, including storage and historical core handling
- Ensure data quality through validation and adherence to procedures
- Maintain consumables and support exploration logistics
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Three year-national diplomas in geological/geotechnical studies with 2 years post qualification related experience in a geological environment, of which (1) year should be in an exploration geological environment.
OR
- Grade 12 minimum E for English with 5 years related experience in a geological environment, of which (1) year should be in an exploration geological environment.
- Code B (08) driver’s license
- A Code of Conduct not older than 6 months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify a candidate
