Job Description
As Lead Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the successful delivery of hybrid large-scale energy projects located locally and regionally across sub-Saharan Africa.
Key activities and responsibilities:
- Taking full responsibility for all aspects of the delivery of the projects
- Preparation of internal and review of external pre-construction documentation and plans
- Assistance with completion of the EPC and O&M contracts for each project
- Driving EPC technical due diligence
- Being main point of contact for the EPC and all project stakeholders on each project assigned including weekly project meetings
- Responsibility for Internal reporting and meetings on project progress
Qualifications and experience:
- Must be a resident of Namibia
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience in utility-scale Solar PV construction and project management experience with a strong operational background
- Thorough experience and understanding of hybrid generation systems.
- Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent combination of education and years of related experience.
- Suitable site H&S qualifications, e.g., IOSHH of comparable local certification
- Significant experience managing vendor and client payment terms to achieve positive cash flow.
Desirable skills/experience:
- Extensive experience making day-to-day decisions on a construction site.
- Strong electrical knowledge and ability to read/understand technical drawings.
- Awareness of British and International standards in terms of operation and regulatory.
- Understanding of subcontractor hiring process with the ability to manage company protocols.
- Detailed knowledge of Health & Safety, risk assessment, CDM, and Building Regulations.
- Awareness of renewable energy sector, especially solar PV, and related policies.
