Job Purpose
Vacancy exists for a Superintendent Projects reporting to the Manager Sustaining Capital Projects and Contractor Management. The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing the execution of multidisciplinary capital projects by leading the engineering team and ensuring projects are completed within the agreed scope, budget, and schedule. This involves developing fit-for-purpose solutions, optimizing value creation, managing resources, tracking performance, addressing deviations, and coordinating with all stakeholders.
Key performance areas
- Participates in HSE programmes and setting targets where applicable.
- Monitors compliance of all direct subordinates and contractors to set standards.
- Investigates accidents/incidents and recommending corrective/ remedial measures. Follows up to ensure that these are adhered to and implemented.
- Supervises and ensures that subordinates complete their tasks according to set plans, defines clear priorities to ensure productivity.
- Identifies training needs and coordinates training programmes and development plans for subordinates
- Follow the RUL Project Management Standard instruction and ensure project management practices comply with PMBOK and Agile Project Management Principles.
- Prepares Capital Expenditure Approval (CEA) documents and presents to projects governance subcommittees (Technical Committee, Investment Committee)
- Develop project management plan, risk management plan and communication plans for each project.
- Reviews scope of work documents to use for sourcing and makes technical evaluations on tenders and proposals for submission and presentation to Tender Board.
- Liaise with all relevant stakeholders to prepare the 5-year rolling Company Capital Plan
- Conduct impact analysis of every project, display technical prowess and ensure effective asset integration, value creation and change management
- Compile budgets for area of responsibility with the assistance and in collaboration with direct reports.
Minimum requirements for the role
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant engineering discipline (B Eng Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) with a minimum of Seven (7) years working experience in a mining engineering environment of which three (3) years should be in supervisory position managing major/multiple contracts. OR
- Recognized National Diploma in relevant engineering discipline (B Eng Mechanical, Electrical or Civil) with a minimum of Ten (10) years working experience in a mining engineering environment of which Five (5) years should be in supervisory position managing major/multiple contracts.
- Valid Code BE driver’s Licence.
- A Police Certificate of conduct of not older than six months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates
Required competencies and skills
- Self and Team Leadership
- Proven experience in post award contract management.
- Solid proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint and SAP).
- Experience in managing multidisciplinary resources and projects to deliver complex projects.
- Risk assessment and management
- Project Management skills is an added advantage
- Full comprehension of NPV methods and evaluation
